Twin Heart

I hear it beat
I feel it pounding
A rhythm so neat
A sound so astounding.

I feel it pump
The vital fluid through my veins
And also feel it jump
At the sound of his name.

That little heart…
So innocent it seems,
But it betrays us and darts
Into the most dangerous dreams.

Dreams of tender joy
Caused by the simplest of beings…
A harmless looking boy,
That awakens those fearful feelings.

With just one look,
With just one crooked grin,
He lounged and took
You’re heart’s spirit twin.

For though one is found
In your chest, beating away,
It’s twin is tightly bound
To your soul with whom it will play.

It will make you hop with glee,
Long with anguish or lust,
Cry for it to set you free
Of that love you blindly trust.
