The sky was gray,
But there was warmth in the air,
On the day
You gave me my first Teddy Bear.
He was all so white!
The color most fair!
With eyes black as night...
My first Teddy Bear.
We'd spend all day
Reading stories and such.
So many games to play
With the Teddy I loved so much.
He was my best friend.
The one I could count on...
But everything has an end,
And, one day, Teddy was gone.
My mom said I was too old
To hold on to such things.
I felt myself go stone cold...
Coldness heartbreak brings.
Life ran along,
IN such a hurried blur!
In Teddy's place, nothing would belong.
Never another toy held any lure.
Alas, one cloudy evening
Up in the attic,
I found my Teddy Hiding
In a box wrapped in plastic"
I hugged him so tight!
I washed him with care.
Now, I cuddle every night
With my first Teddy Bear.
